Our plans for the hall have now been submitted to North Devon District Council and we are waiting for the outcome of the bat surveys, a report is expected by mid-August, for the planning process to begin.
The structural engineer has completed his site inspection and we await his report as well.
In the meantime, an Expression of Interest has been submitted for funds from the Government sponsored Community Ownership Fund and initial submissions to both the National Lottery Heritage and Reaching Communities Funds have been submitted. These are all submissions to gain approval for a full application, so we await with bated breathe.
On more immediate matters, remember that the Garden Show and Fete is on August 12th starting at 2pm at the Village Hall. Details can be found on the website www.chittlehamptongardenshpw.co.uk Have your show entries ready to enter on the day. There will be plenty to see and do, let’s just hope that the weather will be kind to us this time.
Your feedback in the house-to-house survey showed a strong interest in attending live concerts. So, to ‘test the temperature of the water’ we have booked a group called The Lyrics for a live concert, and dance if you wish, on Saturday September 23rd at 8.00pm. They are a very capable and versatile group that plays material from popular artists across the 50s to the 90s which appeals to a wide audience. They are keen to point out that they play easy-listening music, so that you can listen and converse at the same time. To book tickets, see the poster in this issue of the Chronicle.
Thank you for your continued support
