By the time you are reading this the “quiet” patch in the programme should have ended, the scaffolding reduced and the windows starting to go in. The east side of the building should be finished too with the internal blockwork and replacement lintel. Basically, all external works should finish by the end of September.
We have received money for the electrics allowing us to start the internal works. We need to raise funds for the toilets and the refurbishment of the teak floor as well as the heating! So still more work to be done.
We are pleased to announce that a pledge of £30,000 from the Garfield Weston Foundation has now been deposited in our bank account which brings the total amount of money that we have received, from grants awarded by Government and charitable trusts and foundations, to £391,510. We have also been awarded £20,000 from the Lottery Awards for All fund for the electrics.
Community donations and fund raising events have raised an additional £30,000 for which we are extremely grateful.
Further fund raising and bid writing is in progress at the same time of looking for skilled workers to do the work! We are also looking for helpers to clean and paint when we have the hall back.
This time last year we did not have planning permission or any funds! We have come a long way in a very short time. We hope your support will continue as we move ahead to reopen the hall and start on the next section of work: new kitchen, stairs to the loft, the decking and solar panels.
